Classroom Library Linky Party

Amy, over at Literacy and Laughter, is hosting a linky party on classroom libraries.  Be sure to head over there to check out all of the other great photographs of how teachers organize their books in their libraries.

Here are a few pictures of my classroom library.

Red baskets contain nonfiction books separated by genre.
(Biography, Autobiography, Informational sports, informational science, informational social studies, informational animals...)

Clear baskets contain fiction book separated by genre.
(Realistic fiction, fantasy, traditional literature,
historical fiction, mystery, poetry, picture books...)

Book recommendation bulletin board

I have to say, I am pretty addicted to buying books for my classroom, just like most of you. There is no more room for any new chapter books and no more space for even one more book basket. I guess I'll be buying a new bookshelf this summer because I know library will continue to grow.

  1. Are your red baskets from Really Good Stuff? They look similar to mine, which I got from there! I need to order more this summer though! Like you, I need more space for my books! I love your book recommendation board! It is really cute!

  2. I like that book recommendation board! Great idea to separate them into fiction and nonfiction! I linked up to this party too!

  3. Hi Jennifer,

THANK YOU for linking up. I LOVE the book recommendation bulletin board!! I am LOVING getting to see into other teachers' classrooms. So many great ideas.

    Thanks again!

  4. Hi!

I am actually a school librarian, and I would love to use this bulletin board idea. Were there any particular requirements for your students to be able to recommend a book and what did they write on their slips that are on the bulletin board? I did something like this last year around January with a snowman, but I would like something that I could keep up all year long. Thanks so much for sharing!

  5. I love your recommendation board! I found it through Pinterest :) I'm going to make one similar.

  6. Hi Jennifer—

I was hoping to get in contact with you about the possible inclusion of one of these photos in an upcoming issue of the Association of Texas Professional Educators' next magazine.

We're doing a photo feature on fun library displays and would love to include your photo of the book recommendation bulletin board.

Please email me at if you'd be interested! Thank you.

  7. Great book recommendation board. I have used this similar board in the past from Beth Newingham's website. Thanks for jogging my memory...

  8. Wht is the form that the students fill out in order to add their recommendation to the board? Did you make it or get it from another teacher?

  9. I love your classroom library! Great minds think a like. Here is my library:
